Set in a 90 year-old Denver & Rio Grande Western Depot, the museum exhibits capture the hopes and dreams of this small but lively Western town. From cowboy-ing to coal mining, experience the authenticity of the homesteaders and the lives they carved out of this rugged corner of Colorado.
The Hayden Heritage Center Museum was established in 1970 in the former Denver and Rio Grande Western Depot. It exhibits many fine artifacts and an extensive collection of photographs that record the pioneer, mining, and ranching heritage in Hayden and the Yampa Valley.
The Hayden Heritage Museum is located in the former Denver & Rio Grande Western Depot.
The impressive old brick train depot was built in 1918, five years after the "Moffat Road" pushed through Hayden on its way to Salt Lake City, Utah. Unfortunately the line was only to go another 17 miles west to Craig, Colorado before it was discontinued.
