Englewood
Englewood Colorado Hotels
| Englewood is THE starting place of the famous Colorado Gold Rush. Gold nuggets were panned out of the South Platte River in 1859 and Pikes Peak Or Bust was on! The river's gold nuggets were quickly found, and miners quickly shifted to the Rocky Mountains, where the real riches were found. Homesteaders settled what is now Englewood to plant fruit trees and other crops in the comparatively rich soil. Englewood was incorporated in 1903, driven by residents authority to clean up unsavory saloons and prostitution--and end numerous knifings and shootings. Today Englewood is an important part of the Denver metro area. |
