Keystone is in the Summit County recreation area 75 miles west of Denver on Interstate 70, where four major ski areas are located (Keystone, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and Arapahoe Basin). Arapahoe Basin, part of the Keystone complex, is considered America's finest Alpine ski area, with peaks so high that skiing usually lasts until late June, sometimes August. Arapahoe Basin has 61 trails and 490 acres (40% advanced, 50% intermediate, 10% beginner). Arapahoe Basin's longest run is under two miles, but its 12,450-foot lift is the highest in America. Nearly 90% of Arapahoe Basin is popular with high-level intermediate and expert skiers.

Activities in Keystone include snowboarding, Nordic skiing, children's lessons and child-care services. It is especially popular with intermediate skiers, but experts also find plenty of challenges.
