San Juan Skyway Scenic Byway

The most spectacular 236 miles can be experienced on this scenic byway. Starting with Durango, a well preserved frontier town that has grown with it's heritage in mind, drive on to picturesque Telluride.

A descendant of old west mining glory, Telluride is home to world class skiing as well as film, jazz, and bluegrass festivals. Drive on the "Million Dollar Highway" from Ouray to Silverton. Both are Victorian jewels tucked away in Colorado's alpine splendor.

Snaking through over five million acres of untouched National Forest, the San Juan Skyway passes in the shadow of Colorado's most beautiful 14,000 foot peaks. The six hour trip showcases Colorado's high country!

Note: Help us keep the wilderness wild; if you pack it in, you must pack it out!

For more information contact the Office of Community Services, Ft. Lewis College, 1000 Rim Dr., Durango, Co 81301 (970) 247-7310.
